Councils' Strategic Housing function focuses on;

Our strategic housing role comprises of the following:

  • Assess and plan for current and future housing needs of the local population across all tenures
  • Make the best use of existing housing stock
  • Plan and facilitate new supply
  • Plan and commission housing support services linking homes and housing support services
  • Work in partnership to secure effective housing and neighbourhood management
     

Homelessness review and strategy

High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council are committed to preventing and addressing homelessness. 

The strategy sets out how identified priorities will be achieved and covers the following themes;

  • Prevention - The prevention of homelessness
  • Accommodation - Ensuring there is suitable accommodation available for people who are, who may become homeless
  • Opportunities within the Private Rented Sector
  • Support - Ensuring there is sufficient support for people who are, or who may become homeless, or who need support to prevent them from becoming homeless

Home Options policy

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is part of the Home Options partnership, with Derbyshire Dales District Council, High Peak Borough Council, Amber Valley Borough Council and Erewash Borough Council.

Home Options will deliver greater choice to all those seeking housing and enable people to make well-informed decisions about their housing options. This allocation policy document sets out the priorities and procedures for accessing affordable housing under Home-Options.
