New year, new business?

January is traditionally a time for fresh starts and new ventures - and if you're thinking of setting up in business expert help is at hand in the Moorlands.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce are holding an awareness raising session for anyone thinking of becoming their own boss in the New Year.

The free event, which takes place from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Thursday 11 January at the Chamber's new offices at the Buxton and Leek College campus in Leek, provides would-be entrepreneurs with access to ongoing one-to-one support, help and advice.

Councillor Sybil Ralphs, Leader of the Council and cabinet member with responsibility for regeneration, said: "We're delighted to once again be joining the Chamber of Commerce to offer this support to people thinking of becoming self-employed.

"We know that the start of a New Year is when people take stock and make plans so it's a very timely session which will give people a real understanding of what's involved in running a business and the steps they need to take to turn their ambitions into reality."

This workshop is just one of a programme offered by the Council and the Chamber - and they are well received by participants with typical comments including:

  • "Very informative, fantastic talking and sharing ideas with others."
  • "Fabulous day - so much information and step by step personalised help with real life examples. So useful!"

So if you're thinking of starting a business don't miss out - book your place today by calling the Chamber on 01782 202222 or book online.
