Fourth flag for excellence at Ladderedge

Lovers of Ladderedge Country Park are celebrating after it was named amongst the best green spaces in the UK for the fourth year running.

The Park, just two miles from Leek town centre, is one of a record-breaking 1,883 to be recognised by the Green Flag Award scheme - the mark of quality.

This international award scheme, now in its third decade, is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest environmental standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent visitor facilities.

Councillor Mike Bowen, cabinet member for parks, countryside and leisure at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, said: "This is fantastic news and a tribute to the hard work and dedication shown throughout the year by the Friends of Ladderedge.

"Having quality green spaces like this makes such a difference to the Moorlands and we know Ladderedge is valued by residents and visitors alike. I'd like to thank the volunteers who form the Friends group for their continued efforts and join them in celebrating receiving this accolade for the fourth successive year - a terrific achievement."

International Green Flag Award scheme manager, Paul Todd, said: "We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the scheme with more Green Flags awarded this year than last year.

"Each flag honours the thousands of staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award. We are proud to have so many wonderful green spaces in the UK for people to enjoy and hope that, next year, we award even more flags."
