As of 1st October 2018, The Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals)(England) regulations 2018 come into force.
The new legislation will apply to pet shops, catteries, kennels, home boarders, doggy day care, riding establishments, dog breeders and performing/exhibition of animals.
As a result new conditions will apply to licences which includes:
- general conditions that apply to all licences
- specific conditions that will apply to specific animal activity
You must comply with both sets of conditions.
To help current or prospective licence holders understand what will be required of them under the new legislation Defra has produced guidance documents. Please refer to the guidance documents below for more information on the changes.
No changes have been made to Dangerous Wild Animals Licences or Zoo Licences.
