Empty properties

The demand for affordable housing is rising along with house prices, so it's important that empty properties are brought back into full use. Empty properties can become a problem to your area in many ways:

  • house prices will decrease if an area seems run-down or properties have been abandoned
  • it can attract rubbish dumping and increase chance of vermin
  • an empty property can attract crime and anti-social behaviour
  • it can attract squatters, drug dealers, vandalism and possible arson
  • there is increased risk of structural damage to neighbouring properties
  • businesses and investors could be reluctant to move into the area, which could lead to deprivation

Get in touch if you see an empty property so we can try to contact the owners and encourage them to bring the property back into use; by renting or selling it.
