Keeping Foxt fabulous
If you think Foxt is fabulous then you'll welcome news that the District Council is looking to preserve the character of this special area of the Staffordshire Moorlands.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has engaged specialist conservation consultants Mel Morris to survey the area and to take photographs of the buildings and properties so that a record of the settlement can be made in advance of designating Foxt as a conservation area.
Councillor Edwin Wain, cabinet member for planning, development and property at the Council, said: "The Staffordshire Moorlands is rightly regarded as amongst the most beautiful regions of the country and we have a responsibility to preserve the special character of this area for future generations to enjoy as much as we do today.
"This survey work in Foxt will help us to establish appropriate boundaries for a new conservation area. It should not inconvenience residents in any way and I thank people for their patience and understanding whilst this work is carried out."
The work will begin in early October and should take no longer than six weeks. Photographers will only take external images visible from the public highway and will not need access to homes.
A draft conservation area boundary and character appraisal will then be drawn up for public consultation in the new year.
