Playing to our strengths at Hot Lane in Biddulph

Families and young people are set to benefit from an improved play area at Hot Lane in Biddulph thanks to a £50,000 grant from funding body WREN.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council and Biddulph Moor Community Association will use the money, awarded by WREN's FCC Community Action Fund, to install new and exciting play equipment.

Councillor Brian Johnson, cabinet member with responsibility for leisure and parks, believes the improvements will make a big difference to those who use the current facility and to the wider community.

He said: "This is terrific news which will provide a real boost to people in Biddulph. I'd like to thank WREN for awarding us this money which will enable us to enhance the play facilities at Hot Lane for the local community. We're really looking forward to getting started on this project in the Spring of next year when the weather improves."

WREN is a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, biodiversity and heritage projects from funds donated by FCC Environment though the Landfill Communities Fund.

Richard Smith, WREN's grant manager for the North West, says: "We're delighted to be supporting the Hot Lane Play Area project and pleased our funding will provide such a fantastic facility for children and young families across Biddulph. WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and we're really looking forward to seeing this one take shape soon."
