Type of paper we can and can't recycle
We can only recycle...
- newspapers and supplements
- magazines, brochures and catalogues
- white paper (e.g. office / computer paper and letters)
- telephone directories
- leaflets and flyers
- envelopes (including ones with windows)
- shredded paper
- brown paper
Please remember
- remove any plastic wrapping and free gifts from newspapers, magazines, flyers and put in your general rubbish bin
- paper is one of the most valuable recyclable materials - but only when it is clean
We can't recycle...
- paper stained or made dirty with food, grease, paint or dirt
- once soiled with grease, paper can't be recycled because the fibres cannot be separated from the oils during the recycling process - hygiene or sanitary products (i.e. nappies, wipes or sanitary towels)
- used paper towels
- tissues
- cotton wool or make up pads
- wet wipes
- sticky papers (e.g. Post-it notes, sticky labels or paper tape)
- non paper gift wrap (e.g. foil based gift wrapping) or bags
- crisp or sweet packets and wrappers
- wallpaper or decoration paper
- books - books in good condition can be donated locally to a charity shop
