More help and advice

We work with local partnership organisations to assist people to start new businesses, but we don't employ business advisors directly.

The Stoke and Staffordshire Business Helpline can answer a wide range of questions and will signpost you to organisations that can help you protect your ideas or support you to grow. They can also advise on a wide range of funding options and implication of regulations that may affect you.

The Staffordshire Chambers of Commerce offer a wide range of business and enterprise advice. It's a great place to start for all kinds of start up support, sign up for a training course or find out what business events are being held around Staffordshire.

Business Enterprise Support (BES) also offer expert advice on starting your own business, read more about the help available on their new business pages.

  • Confidence boosting workshops to help overcome perceived barriers on entering self-employment
  • International trade sessions covering topics such as market selection, routes to market, documentation and methods of payment
  • Sector specific drop-in sessions
  • Workshops to help new entrepreneurs to identify early warning signals of business crisis and how to overcome them
  • One-to-one sessions with skills advisors at the end of the start-up programme to discuss on-going training needs for their new business
  • Support to access finance and on getting through the critical early stages of their business operation.
