Flying the flag for our armed forces

Staffordshire Moorlands will be showing its support for our armed forces past and present by flying a flag outside Moorlands House in Leek as part of the national Armed Forces Day celebrations.

District Chairman Councillor Julie Bull is inviting people to join her at a flag raising ceremony on Monday 20 June.

The ceremony will begin at 10.25am when the British Legion will raise the standards followed by the raising of the Armed Forces Day flag at 10.30am at the flag pole outside Moorlands House on Stockwell Street. The short ceremony will be followed by refreshments in the Council Chamber and everyone is welcome to attend.

Nationally Armed Forces Day takes place on Saturday 25 June. Celebrations begin on Monday 20 June when the flag is raised on buildings and at landmarks across the UK.

The ceremony is a chance for people to show support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from currently serving troops to Service families, veterans and cadets by giving them all a well-deserved morale boost.
