Council offers gift of free Christmas parking
With preparations for the festive season now well underway towns across the Moorlands are gearing up to welcome visitors and shoppers during this busy period - and the Council is once again offering free parking at its car parks.
Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has agreed to provide free off-street parking in its car parks in Biddulph, Cheadle and Leek so that people can enjoy the seasonal events taking place and to encourage people to buy their festive gifts and goodies locally.
In Biddulph drivers can park for free on 24 November and 7, 8, 15 and 22 December; in Cheadle parking is free on 17 November and 8, 15 and 22 December; and in Leek the dates are 24 November and 1, 8, 15 and 22 December.
Councillor Edwin Wain, Cabinet member responsible for off-street parking, said: "For several years now we've offered town councils five days every year when there is no charge for parking in our car parks and we're delighted to do so once again.
"Christmas inevitably means people are shopping for gifts, food and drink so we hope that not having to pay for parking in the build up to the big day will encourage them to shop locally and make the most of what's on offer on their doorsteps."
Drivers are asked to note that whilst parking is free on these dates all other car park regulations remain in place.
