Culture Strategy

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council are developing a cultural strategy, which will set out a vision for how Arts, Heritage, and Culture will shape the lives and businesses of the Moorlands by 2030. The strategy will contain an action plan with a roadmap of how to achieve this vision.

We want this plan to be shaped by the people who live in the Moorlands of all backgrounds - from professional artists to those who haven't taken part in arts and culture, and everyone in between - we want to hear from you!

How Can I get Involved?

We will be asking for your input throughout this process. You can learn more about what we have planned in the "How We Will Develop The Strategy" document linked below. Keep an eye on the Cultural Strategy website page, and the Council's social media accounts to stay up to date on opportunities to get involved.

Join The Cultural Strategy Advisory Group

Our first step is to create a Cultural Strategy Advisory Group!

If you are interested in culture, creativity, heritage or bringing people together and are passionate about the future of the Moorlands, we would love to hear from you - no arts, culture or heritage experience required!

Members of this group will:

  • Act as "critical friends" through the development of the strategy and suggest areas of improvement and new areas to explore.
  • Use their knowledge and expertise (of all kinds - not just cultural!) to help us to reach new people, generate new ideas and create a strategy that will represent people of all backgrounds throughout the Moorlands.
  • Provide feedback on the strategy and action plan.

To apply, you must:

  • Be aged 18 or over from the date of your application.
  • Live, work or volunteer in the Moorlands.

This is a voluntary role, however expenses will be paid.

To apply, please complete the online application form below. If you require an application in a different format, please get in touch by emailing Joanne.blunt@staffsmoorlands.gov.uk or calling 0345 605 3010. The deadline for applications will be 11:59PM on Sunday 30 June. Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered. We will inform everyone who has applied of our decisions on or before Friday 14 July 2024.

We will use the applications we receive to create a group that reflects as many different experiences as possible. We are looking for both arts professionals and non-arts professionals to apply. Meetings will be approximately once per month for around 12 months and we will endeavour to accommodate any and all access needs. If you have any questions or concerns, please get in touch by emailing Joanne.blunt@staffsmoorlands.gov.uk or calling 0345 605 3010.
