Council highlights cost of living help in Moorlands
Published 23 May 2024
Managing your money can be a challenge at any time but more so when prices for daily essential keep on rising - so the District Council is helping to ensure people can find, and access, support with the increasing cost of living.
The Council is working with organisations and agencies across the District that can offer advice and practical support to people to help them manage the challenges they face.
Councillor Charlotte Atkins, Cabinet member for Services, said: "We've all experienced the rising costs of the things we need on a daily basis such as food, energy to cook and heat our homes and our rents and mortgages.
"Many people are struggling to manage these increases. But there is help and support available to our residents. The Council is working in partnership with organisations that offer support services. We're encouraging anyone in need to reach out to them for assistance.
"There's more information about what is out there on our website. We've also distributed a leaflet to all Moorlands households with your council tax bill signposting where they can go for help with the specific issues they may be facing.
"No-one needs to suffer alone. So, if you feel you would benefit, please do contact the organisations that are there to help you."
The cost of living hub on the Council's website hub brings together information about the range of financial help and other support available.
This includes details of local schemes to help homeowners make their homes more energy efficient, money saving tips and how to get help managing debt, links to organisations providing mental health support and how to get help with your rent or council tax if you need it.
Customer Services staff at Biddulph, Cheadle and Leek are also able to help anyone not able to get online.
