A Briefing for prospective Candidates and Agents will take place on Monday 3rd March 2025 in person at Moorlands House, Stockwell Street, Leek, Staffordshire ST13 6HQ and via Teams at 6.00 pm. The briefing will inform Candidate and Agents of the timetable and matters that will affect their campaign.

Receipt of Nominations commence on Wednesday 26th March 2025 and close at 4 pm Wednesday 2nd April 2025. Nominations MUST be hand delivered to Electoral Services staff, Reception, Moorlands House, Stockwell Street, Leek, Staffordshire ST13 6HQ.


Voting in this election

The last day for applications to be included on the register of electors in order to vote in this election is Friday 11 April. If you aren't already registered, make sure you register online at https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote.

If you need to request a new postal vote, or change or cancel an existing postal vote or proxy appointment you need to do it by 5:00pm on Monday 14 Aprilhttps://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-votePlease note that the deadline for a postal-proxy (where your appointed proxy wishes to vote by post) is 5pm on Monday 14 April 2025.

The last day to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate is 5.00 pm Wednesday 23 April 2025. You can apply online at https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate

New applications to vote by proxy must be received by 5:00pm on Wednesday 23 Aprilhttps://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote 

Voting in person

You can vote in person at your allocated polling station. Polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. If there is a queue you will still be able to vote as long as you joined the queue before 10pm.

Voter ID

You will be required to show an accepted form of photographic identification to polling station staff before being issued with a ballot paper.

If you don't already have any of the accepted forms of photographic identification, you will be able to apply either in person, by post or online, for a Voter Authority Certificate - a free photographic identification document specific for the purposes of voting.

If your photographic identification document has expired, it will still be accepted as long as the photograph is still a good likeness of you.

The deadline to apply for a Voter Authority Certificate for the elections taking place on Thursday 1 May 2025 is 5pm on Wednesday 23 April 2025
