Allotments
Locations and how to apply for an allotment
Within the Staffordshire Moorlands area, each town or parish council is the "Allotment Authority" as deemed by the Schedule 29 of The Local Government Act 1972 and is therefore responsible for the provision of allotments within its council boundary. Staffordshire Moorlands District Council therefore has no duty to provide allotments and has no power to act in any manner over allotments.
The Open Space Study updated report of 2017 undertaken by the council identified that there were 16 allotment sites totalling nearly 12 hectares of provision across the Moorlands.
In order to determine whether there are allotments available in your town or parish council area please contact the relevant council for information on existing or planned sites, waiting lists, costs etc. Please follow the links below for further information on allotments in the three market towns.
