VE and VJ Day events - grants now available

This year is the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and the UK will be coming together as a nation to mark this historic occasion.
Communities across the Moorlands will be organising events to commemorative the anniversaries of VE Day on 8 May and VJ Day on 15 August.
To help with the cost of these events, Staffordshire Moorlands District Council is making grants of up £1,000 available to Town and Parish Councils or to community groups who have the support of their council.
Council Leader, Councillor Mike Gledhill, said: "The sacrifice and selflessness of the Second World War generation is truly inspirational and will never be forgotten.
"We know that our communities will be keen to mark this historic anniversary and I hope that these grants will help people across the Moorlands take part in events and activities that honour that generation and, indeed, all our service personnel.
"There's full details on website, including an application form, so please apply and put our towns and parishes at the heart of remembering in this special year."
Grants must be used to hold an event or associated activities that is open to the public and directly related to VE or VJ Day or for the preparations leading up to an event.
