Friday markets kick off events programme in Leek

The Friday themed markets in Leek's newly-rejuvenated Trestle Market have now begun - kickstarting the refreshed events programme following the investment in the building.

Each Friday of every month we're featuring businesses and traders who specialise in particular goods with fashion being the focus on the first Friday and food and drink on the second Friday. The third Friday each month will see makers and artists bring their items for sale and vintage goods will feature on the fourth Friday.

Foodie Friday started the new programme last week and this week we're looking forward to welcoming makers and artists to the town.

Councillor Matt Swindlehurst, Cabinet member for Leisure and Tourism, said: "The markets in Leek are undergoing a real renaissance thanks to the investment we've made in improving the buildings and attracting new businesses and new visitors.

"These new markets on Fridays will be a further boost to our traders, the town and the wider Moorlands as they will attract more businesses and people keen to experience what's on offer.

"So it's great news for everyone that we've now launched these themed markets as we move into the spring and summer with plenty of other exciting events in the pipeline including events to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day."

Spaces are still available at these themed markets so if you're interested in joining us please email markets@staffsmoorlands.gov.uk
