Help shape future development in Biddulph

Published 9 November 2023

Residents in Biddulph will be able to have their say on the future development of the town when a referendum on two planning questions takes place in December.

Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has decided to send the Biddulph Neighbourhood Development Order and the Biddulph Neighbourhood Plan prepared by Biddulph Town Council  to referendum on 7 December.

The local community will be asked two questions:

  • Whether they want the type of development in the Neighbourhood Development Order for Biddulph to have planning permission; and
  • Whether they want Staffordshire Moorlands District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Biddulph to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area

If a majority vote 'yes' to these questions, both documents will be adopted.

Councillor Darren Price, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Planning, said: "Of course, we know people care about where they live and how their communities and neighbourhoods could, and should, develop in the future.

"This referendum is a real opportunity for Biddulph people to have their say and to help shape the future of their town. I would encourage everyone to take a look at these planning documents, and to take that opportunity to influence the services and amenities that are provided in the future by taking part in the referendum in a few weeks time."

The documents are available on the Council's website or you can view paper copies at:
