Green Space Development Fund

We're excited to offer Town and Parish Councils grants of up to £500 to transform and improve public parks, gardens, and green spaces, making them more inviting, accessible, and enjoyable for all residents.

The Green Space Development Fund is designed to support Town and Parish Council projects that:

• Improve accessibility: Making green spaces easier to access for people of all ages and abilities.
• Encourage community use: Creating spaces that promote outdoor activities, social interaction, and wellbeing.
• Enhance biodiversity: Introducing features that support wildlife and create a healthier environment.
• Promote sustainability: Ensuring the longevity and environmental benefits of green spaces.

• Enhance Local Amenities: Green spaces are at the heart of the community. This fund enables councils to make meaningful improvements that increase their use and benefit
• Increase Accessibility: By ensuring that spaces are usable for everyone—whether through the installation of new paths, seating, or signage—you can help more people enjoy the outdoors
• Strengthen Community Engagement: A well-developed green space brings the community together, offering a shared space for relaxation, events, and outdoor activities.

Example Projects Could Include:

• Installing outdoor seating and picnic areas
• Improving pathways to enhance access for all users
• Adding new signage or information boards
• Creating wildlife-friendly features like plant beds or small ponds

Applications are welcomed from Town and Parish Councils only. One successful application per year, per council is permitted for up to 75% of the overall cost, with a maximum award of £500. The site in question needs to be in the ownership of the Town or Parish Council, or they must have a lease to manage the site, if owned by another organisation. Successful applications will demonstrate alignment with the Key Priorities and Guiding Principles of the Green Spaces Strategy.
